Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
Dates for upcoming tests: December 17, January 6, 15, 23 and 31.
Take this exam if you’re applying to our nursing program. It tests your skills and abilities in English, reading, science and math. The TEAS is required for nursing clinical admission.
Why is This Test Necessary?
The multiple-choice test gives you a good idea of your skills and aptitude. This way, you’ll start off better prepared to progress through your nursing courses. You must achieve an overall score of “proficient” or higher on the TEAS exam to be considered for clinical courses.
How to Register
To take the test, you must register online. Registration closes 24 hours before the exam.
- Go to www.atitesting.com.
- Click “I am preparing for or taking the TEAS”
- Click “Create Account” or “Login” on top right
- Go to the Online Store
- On the left side under “Register for…” click on TEAS
- Program type: TEAS for Nursing Students
- City: Poughkeepsie

Find information about the TEAS and practice materials at www.atitesting.com. Click on “ATI product solutions” then “ATI TEAS for students” under Pre-Program.
Fees
The $87 fee plus tax (for DCC students) is payable to ATI when you register. There is also a $35 proctoring fee for non-DCC students; click here to pay.

TEAS scores are valid for 18 months. If you took the TEAS at another institution within 18 months of applying to the DCC Nursing program, ask ATI or the institution at which you tested submit scores to dccplacementtesting@sunydutchess.edu. You also can come to campus with photo ID and someone at the Testing Center will oversee the printing of TEAS scores from your ATI account.
