These classes are designed for high school students, adults and seniors to develop fundamentals of ensemble playing.
*Co-Seat College Courses offer high school students, adults and seniors the opportunity to participate in college music courses taught by DCC Performing Arts faculty without receiving college credit. Seniors over 60 who reside in Dutchess County have the option to audit these courses with no tuition charge. Chorus*
The purpose of this course is to improve the student’s ensemble singing through the study and performance of choral music in a variety of musical styles. The course includes at least one public concert providing students an opportunity to perform mastered repertoire. *Co-seat College Ensemble

Community Jazz Combo
Explore the world of jazz combo playing. Students will increase their technical facility on their instruments while achieving interactive combo playing. The repertoire is selected from jazz standards and American songbook lead sheets. Available to intermediate and advanced players of any instrument. It is suggested that students study with a private teacher while taking this class.

Jazz Ensemble
This course is designed for musicians and requires prior knowledge and ability to read music. Students rehearse and perform jazz ensemble music. The course is open to students playing saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drums, or percussion. There is one on-campus concert, and additional performances may be required. Students are expected to supply their own instruments in working condition.*Co-Seat College Ensemble

Orchestra
This course is designed for musicians and requires prior knowledge and ability to read music. Students rehearse and perform orchestral music. The course is open to students playing flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, or percussion at a level NYSSMA 4 or higher. There is one on-campus concert, as well as additional public concerts in the community. Students are expected to supply their own instruments in working condition. *Co-Seat College Ensemble

Pop-Rock Guitar Classics
This class is designed for intermediate to advanced players. The goal is to explore styles of classic, alternative rock, and pop. Students will expand musical knowledge in rhythm, strumming, lead, and fingerpicking techniques, and have frequent opportunities to perform solo throughout the classes.

Guitar Ensemble
Styles of music range from classical to popular and are geared toward the interests of the class members. The first part of each class is spent playing ensemble music together. During the second half, time is spent performing for each other. Students will have plenty of time to gain performance experience in a friendly and supportive environment. The ability to read rhythms from whole to eighth notes is required. Classical, acoustic, electric and bass guitars are welcome.

Ukulele Ensemble
This ensemble is designed for beginners and intermediates and those who wish to continue mastering the fundamentals. Enjoy discovering the basics of playing this accessible and fun instrument. Instrumental ensemble music and songs will be covered.

Violin for Adults
The class is for students who can play comfortably in the first position and have a good grasp of note-reading and rhythm. Repertoire will include ensemble pieces chosen by the instructor according to the number and level of participants. Some examples from previous classes include duets from the Baroque period and those by Bela Bartok (2 or more per part).

Chamber Music
The Chamber Music class is intended for a small group of musicians, such as a trio or quartet, usually with one performer to a part. This class offers a unique opportunity for students to experience the fun and interactive world of chamber music. You can bring a pre-formed group with a minimum of two people, and set your own schedule with one of our professional coaches. If you don't have a group, you will form one with other students in the class.

College Credit Registration
High school students seeking college credit should register through the college, not the Academy. Students interested in college credit will be considered part of the college's Bridge Program and would receive tuition at a discount.
