Clubs & Organizations

Attending Dutchess doesn't mean all work and no play. Whatever your interest, you'll find a club to fit the bill.

There are some two dozen clubs and organizations at the College, focusing on such interests as: architecture, biology, communications, outdoor adventure, engineering, poetry and much more.

The following list includes the current clubs on campus. To join a club just show up to a meeting. Be sure to contact a club advisor for more information.

  • Active Minds
    Advisors: Tomasine Oliphant and Professor Cathleen Greenan
    Meets: 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 402G

    Active Minds will spread awareness of emotional and social mental health supports and services available to students, staff and faculty members on and off campus, promote social connectedness by providing activities and campaigns that promote connections to community-based, cultural, religious or national groups, and promote diversity and inclusiveness on campus. Help identify students at risk by learning and following crisis management procedures. Services provided include building of resiliency and life skills, bridging of social support groups, crisis management, access and information to mental health resources and services on and off campus, information about mental health workshops, and training resources.
  • Alpha Beta Gamma
    Advisor: Meghan McCarthy
    Meets: 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month at 12:30 p.m. in Taconic 212

    This is the DCC chapter of the Alpha Beta Gamma International Honor Society. Alpha Beta Gamma members at DCC are members of the Business Technology department who have excelled academically.
  • Alternative Music Appreciation Society
    Advisor: Gary Ljungquist
    Meets: Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in CBI 110

    The purpose of this club is to organize a place where individuals who enjoy similar interests in music can meet and discuss. Within our club, we will discuss music, plan concert trips, music night events and exchange music. We will foster an environment where members can learn about music, enjoy music with their peers and expand musical knowledge. We are open to all forms of alternative music and want to spread the love of music to all participating members.
  • Anime and Gaming Society
    Advisors: Eric Greenop & Jessica Whelan
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 407A

    The purpose of this club is to organize a place where individuals can strengthen critical thinking skills, and to introduce students to the values of social interaction. AGS will also help members develop team work, leadership and social skills. The members of AGS will work to help find fun in their college careers, as well as help others find fun in theirs.
  • Black Student Union (BSU)
    Advisor: Shalon Hallager
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 521

    The BSU is a student organization whose purpose is to celebrate, share and explore black culture, promote and instill leadership, academic excellence and pride in one’s individual ethnicity. We present ourselves as positive, united people demonstrating our commitment to the community. We strive to provide a comfortable environment for students of color to voice their concerns and make a difference in the campus community.  We want to increase our networking abilities by shaping professional habits and building professional relationships.
  • Business Club

    Meets: 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. in Taconic 318

    The purpose of the DCC Business Club is to provide students with experiences that will help prepare them for the business world.
  • Campus Activity Board
    Advisor: Sarah Wheeler

    Our goal is to plan fun and enjoyable activities open to the entire campus. The CAB sponsors a variety of activities, concerts, speakers, day trips, lunchtime cafeteria entertainment and a wide variety of social events from the Rocky Horror Picture Show to our annual Valentine’s Day Flower Sale.
  • Christian Fellowship
    Advisor: Ryan Bisson

    The purpose of this organization is to increase the understanding and awareness of God and His relationship to man, as declared in the Bible.
  • Computer, Data Science & Information Systems Club
    Advisor: Henry Mendoza Rivera
    Meets:  Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Washington 134

    The Computer, Data Science & Information Systems Club at DCC provides hands-on experience to acquire skills in practical programming, data analysis, and information systems. Students will learn to work in teams and have opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary projects and competitions.
  • Crypt Keepers: Horror Appreciation Society
    Advisor: Sam Rebelein
    Meets: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 406

    The purpose of this club is to bring together like-minded individuals to celebrate horror-based literature, movies, games, and personal artwork/writing. Primarily focused on literature as a book club, we also aim to encourage creativity amongst our members by providing bi-weekly artist’s and writer’s prompts alongside the assigned book of the month.
  • Dutchess Diamonds Dance
    Advisor: Jennifer Lorenzo
    Meets: Mondays - Friday at 4 p.m. in the Falcon Hall Dance Studio

    The purpose of this club is to promote the love and passion for dance on the DCC campus, to empower students through the art of dance, to bring together a community of people who appreciate the performing arts through entertainment and to teach students various genres of dance.
  • Dutchess and Dragons (DnD)
    Advisors: Jane Sheeley & Danielle Ely
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 411

    The purpose of Dutchess & Dragons Club is to organize an area where like-minded individuals can get together to interact in a world designed by a Dungeon Master to solve problems using critical thinking skills as well as teamwork. D&D Club aims to include everyone who is interested regardless of their experience level. This club hopes to develop the social & communication skills of the players so they can increase their confidence to better support themselves in the future.
  • Dutchess Student Media Group
    Advisor: Jeff Baker
    Meets: Thursdays at 1 p.m. in Hudson 404

    Our goal is to provide you, the listener, with some of the best media that you will ever witness. Whether you’re a lover of sports, EDM, or just want to watch some video games, we have it for you. From live shows like our online radio and Twitch streams to our podcasts on SoundCloud, we got you covered.
  • Dutchess Trading Card Club
    Advisor: Dan Barbuto
    Meets: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in the Greenspan Cafeteria

    The purpose of Dutchess Trading Card Club is to organize a group where like-minded individuals can get together to expand the player base of trading card games, allow students to have an affordable way to play these games, and to create a fun community within Dutchess Community College.
  • Falcon's Call Newspaper
    Advisor: Kevin Lang
    Meets: Fridays at noon in Hudson 501

    Members of the club print the Falcon’s Call Newspaper.  Members will be afforded the opportunity to learn the elements of newspaper production, including story writing, editing, photography, and design, along with all activities deemed necessary to produce the news site.
  • Film Society
    Advisor: Dana Weidman

    The purpose of this club is to engage in a vibrant discourse on film and to promote film and film studies on the DCC Campus.
  • Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA)
    Advisor: Dana Gavin
    Meets: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 516

    The purpose of The Gender Sexuality Alliance is to promote understanding and awareness of issues surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity through open discussion, workshops and other educational processes.
  • Investment Club

    Meets:2nd & 4th Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Taconic 313

    The purpose of this organization shall be to teach students how to invest money in publicly traded securities through a long-term investment strategy. Students will become pupils and leaders in their community by engaging in community service and with leaders through guest speakers/lecturers.
  • Latin American Student Organization (LASO)
    Advisor: Mehmet Kucukozer
    Meets: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in Taconic 103

    The purpose of this club is in keeping with DCC's greater emphasis on community and valuing diversity. The club seeks to promote increased awareness and understanding of the Latino Culture, its people and language.
  • Masquers' Guild Theatre Club
    Advisor: Tommy Costello
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Dutchess 205

    The Masquers’ Guild stimulates interest in dramatic activities at Dutchess Community College.  Our main objective is to have the students learn the theatrical experience. The club is involved in three productions a year.
  • Military Club
    Advisor: Stewart Dawes

    The objective of this organization shall be to act as a voice for military persons who attend DCC and their families, to bring awareness to the unique experiences of military persons who attend DCC, and to serve as an advocate on behalf of them at the College. We aim to educate faculty, students and the community about issues including, but not limited to, transition to civilian life, disabilities, policy, employment, education and service; and to build partnerships within the community and foster unity among military students, faculty and staff via social activities and partnerships.
  • Muslim Students Association
    Advisor: Eric Tomik

    The MSA reaches out to those who are not Muslims, primarily to educate them about the misconceptions regarding Islam and the Islamic way of life, and to include anyone willing to stand up for truth, justice, and peace. The MSA encourages mental, physical, and spiritual development through an array of spiritual discussions, rallies, academic forums, and charity events.
  • Nursing Club
    Advisors: Susan Barlanti & Shiji Pothen
    Meets: 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. in Hudson 407a

    The Nursing Club takes part in contributing to nursing education and providing the highest quality healthcare. They organize and promote programs of professional interest and concern, and to aid in the development of the whole person and his/her professional role.
  • Outdoor Adventure
    Advisor: Tim Welling 
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Falcon 106

    The main purpose of this club is to organize events and activities that emphasize the outdoors and nature.  Rock climbing, kayaking, skiing, ice climbing and hiking are just some of the activities that the club does.
  • Phi Theta Kappa
    Advisor: Navina Hooker
    Meets: 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month in Hudson 406

    Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges. It's the largest honor society in American higher education, with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in all 50 states and abroad. Phi Theta Kappa has become one of the largest and most prestigious honor societies in the world! Phi Theta Kappa provides an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas and ideals, opportunities for the development of leadership and service, lively fellowship of scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
  • Philosophy and Sociology

    The intent of The Philosophy and Sociology Club is to allow the generation of open discussion, new knowledge and ideas, and student-led philosophical and sociological projects and seminars through the guidance of staff with advanced education in philosophy and sociology. This while also allowing students to meet and learn from club guests and gain an expanded view of the world through participating in club events.
  • Political Science

    Political Science Club promotes political awareness in domestic and international politics.
  • Speech and Debate Coalition
    Advisor: Margueax Lippman

    The purpose of the team is to support the campus community through, service, the creation of public dialogue and supporting a culture of debate. The team also prepare for and competes in competitive speech and debate.
  • STEM Club

    The purpose of the club shall be, through activities and acts of service, to explore and promote a greater understanding and interest in fields involving science, technology, education, engineering, math and medical fields.
  • Student Government Association (SGA)
    Advisor: Matt Hanlon
    Meets: Every other Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Dutchess 101

    Student Government provides students the opportunity to be active in their campus community as well as the local community. Members attend meetings where they discuss various events and issues that face the student body. They participate in community service projects, learn more about the governmental process, make new and lasting friendships and much more! The Student Government atmosphere allows students to excel in leadership, confidence and networking skills that will be helpful when attending their next school as well as in their future careers.
  • TV Production Club
    Advisor: Patrick Huber
    Meets: Fridays at 12 noon in CBI 116

    The TV Production Club is involved with all levels of television production. Students will learn how to use editing computers, field cameras and studio space.
  • Visual Arts Club
    Advisors: Jesse Navarra & Kristen Rego
    Meets: Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Washington 032

    The purpose of the club shall be to expand artistic awareness, create art, and to share and learn skills through creative activities and community service.
  • Women's Student Club
    Advisor: Patricia Phillips
    Meets: 2nd and 4th Thursday of the Month in Hudson 402C

    The Women Student Club provides a forum to discuss social issues and to unify persons wishing to establish a base support group before entering the community to help with social issues.
