Chief Diversity Officer

Dr. Melissa Carlo is the current interim chief diversity officer at DCC.

Dr. Carlo is the assistant dean for enrollment and student success. Within her portfolio she provides leadership for the Educational Opportunity Program and serves as the director of the TRiO program. Through her many years working with opportunity programs, Dr. Carlo has mentored, advised and supported hundreds of students identified as being first generation, low-income or having a disability. She currently serves on DCC’s Diversity Council and was a former co-advisor for the Latin American Student Organization. Out in the community, Dr. Carlo is a board member for the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education and a member of her local Special Education Parent Advisory Team. As someone who truly embodies a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Dr. Carlo brings a great deal of experience and passion to the role.
