Fresh Start Rule

Students who have not enrolled in credit classes at DCC for a minimum of three consecutive years, and who have Ds and Fs on their transcript, may apply for the Fresh Start Rule.

All grades of D and F will be made non-applicable on the student’s transcript. The rule can be used only once and cannot be applied if a student has already graduated. Students are expected to apply prior to completing their first returning semester and must be matriculated in a degree program in order to be eligible. All other requirements for graduation remain in effect.

Financial Aid Recipients: This will no longer ensure that you can regain eligibility for either Federal or New York State Financial Aid programs as a result of the approval of the Fresh Start Rule.
