What You'll Study in our Human Services Program

A career in human services is the perfect outlet for your natural empathy and compassion. Whether you’re interested in sociology or counseling, a slew of high-demand career options await — and DCC will give you the knowledge and skills to get there.

Through hands-on practicum experiences and classes with dedicated faculty, DCC offers degree and certificate programs in seven human services specialties.

Psychology A.S.

Psychologists can help people in a range of settings, including schools, private practices and clinics, and nonprofit organizations.

Sociology A.S.

Sociologists can find work in child welfare and human service agencies, healthcare, nonprofit and research organizations.

Social Work A.S.

Social workers serve in a range of professional settings, including child welfare and human service agencies, healthcare, schools, private practices and nonprofits.

Child Care A.A.S.

Through coursework and field experience, DCC gives you the skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of people and kids with special needs.

Mental Health Assistant A.A.S.

The demand for mental health services has exploded. With a Human Services degree in Mental Health Assistance from DCC, your compassion could change or even save someone's life.

Chemical Dependency Counseling Certificate

Learn to save lives, and help people to learn their lives are worth saving. Become a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and fill a rapidly growing need.

Child Care/Direct Care (Certificate)

Become a more well-rounded member of your human services team. Earn a Child Care/Direct Care certificate from DCC.

Direct Support Professional Microcredentials

Our DSP microcredentials provide the framework you need to grow your career. Three certification levels that align with certification from NADSP.

Human Services Club

All Human Services students are encouraged to join the Human Services Club, the campus club devoted to projects that support the community.
