Program Description
The Cannabis Retail Management Microcredential will allow students the opportunity to focus on retail management for career advancement and skill enhancement in the cannabis industry. There are many instances where an individual may wish to educate themselves with a focus on retail management operations, customer service in the cannabis industry, as well as cannabis as a product. This will allow individuals more options for future job marketability without having to work through a full associate degree.
Students who successfully complete this Microcredential will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of business theories and concepts relating to the retail industry and within an adult-use retail cannabis dispensary;
- Understand market and distribution systems storeroom operations, cost controls, and product information delivery;
- Understand the importance of superior customer service and apply skills to achieve customer satisfaction;
- Demonstrate knowledge of the cannabis plant in order to successfully meet customer needs in a retail dispensary.

Because a Microcredential is comprised of short course sequences, requirements for a Microcredential are to be completed at DCC. Any exception to this would require departmental approval in order to transfer in credits.
No more than 50% of credits may be accepted in transfer.*
A digital badge will be awarded to students who complete the required coursework and earn a 2.0 or higher in each course.
If the Microcredential contains a certification exam, a successful score on that exam is also required for the award of the Microcredential.
