“About Water” Opens March 3, Reception on March 7

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — FEB. 20, 2025 — The Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery at Dutchess Community College will present "About Water," an exhibit featuring landscape paintings by Daisy de Puthod and abstract works by Jean-Marie Martin. The exhibition will run from March 3 to 28, with an opening reception on March 7 at 3 p.m.

Presented in partnership with DCC’s Women’s History Month programming, the exhibit will also feature a special lecture by art historian Margaret Craig on "Women of the Hudson River School" on March 6 at 12:30 p.m.

Jean-Marie Martin is an American conceptual/abstract artist born in Quebec. After 40 years in New York City, he is now based in Rhinebeck. His work can be viewed at www.jeanmariemartin.com. Daisy de Puthod, a plein air painter with more than 35 years of experience, captures landscapes and waterscapes of the Hudson Valley, the Maine coast and Cape Cod. The Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery is located in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with docent tours available on Saturdays by appointment.

Visitors are advised to park in Lot D (GPS address: 97 Cottage Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601). Accessible parking is available at the top of the hill right outside the gallery entrance.
