Commemorative Exhibit Opens Nov. 4
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — OCT. 22, 2024 — “THE ART OF TAROT,” an exhibit commemorating the life, art and writing of longtime Rhinebeck resident Rachel Pollack, will be showcased at Dutchess Community College’s Mildred I. Washington Gallery from Nov. 4 to Dec. 13. Pollack’s impressive body of work includes eight fiction titles, 23 non-fiction books—including “Salvador Dali’s Tarot”—and twelve major works on tarot. She also published a book of poetry and numerous essays throughout her prolific career.
The exhibit will feature the designs from “The Shining Tribe Tarot” deck. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 6 from 5-6:30 p.m., followed by a gallery talk on Nov. 7 from 12:30-1:45 p.m., featuring occultist and Bard Art History Professor Dr. Susan Aberth and a book-signing by Cat Willett, author of “Women of Tarot.” On Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m., the gallery will host “Jazz in the Gallery,” a performance by the DCC Community Jazz Combo. All events are free and open to the public.
