May 12, 2016 – Dutchess United Educators (DUE), the teachers union of Dutchess Community College, honored 30 students for academic achievement at the 31st Annual DUE Awards for Academic Excellence on May 4.
Fourteen students were nominated by professors for individual DUE Awards, while 16 others received special awards, which are given by entire academic departments or in honor of past DCC faculty and staff members.
The 14 individual award winners were: Renee Lynn Alexander (Fishkill), Summer Berry (Beacon), Annya Cousins (Poughkeepsie), Eslam Eshmawy (Wappingers Falls), Shaneika Hamilton (Poughkeepsie), Mark Honig (Poughkeepsie), Jennifer Larkin (Poughkeepsie), Elizabeth Lopez-Roberg (Bangall), Cassandra Losee (Poughkeepsie), DeSean Morrow, (Wappingers Falls), Eric Ortiz (Wappingers Falls), Angelina Siragusa (Poughquag), Emily Venuto (Poughkeepsie) and Jeffrey Woods (Rhinebeck).
Special awards went to: Richard Brady (Rhinebeck), Melissa Ebneter (Poughkeepsie), Kianna Sweeney, (Washingtonville), Evan Mena (Hopewell Junction), Danielle Holzberger (Lagrangeville), Danielle Van Ostrand (Poughkeepsie), Andre Hyman (Poughkeepsie), Elliana Ramirez (Newburgh), Sajna Ruparelia (Poughkeepsie), Jacob Shultis (Poughkeepsie), Dalton Rifenburg (Hyde Park), Ericka McGriff (Poughkeepsie), Shefa Alzeq (Poughkeepsie), Tennille Savage (Poughkeepsie), Emily Spina (Fishkill) and John Fay (Hopewell Junction).
In addition, recently retired faculty members John Desmond and Tom Denton, along with the soon-to-be-retired Karen Desmond, were presented with honorary awards recognizing their career-long contributions to academic excellence at DCC.
