Student FAQs

Q: What do I do if I test positive for COVID-19?

Please send an email to covidstatus@sunydutchess.edu as soon as possible. If you are able, please advise your faculty member regarding keeping up with coursework or assignments.

Q: What if I am being tested at an off-campus testing site?

We highly encourage students to take advantage of our on-campus testing site. Check the testing schedule on the What Students Need to Know page or in myDCC. If that testing site advises that you have tested positive for COVID-19, please contact the Health Office at (845) 431-8075 or healthoffice@sunydutchess.edu as soon as possible. If you are able, please advise your faculty member regarding keeping up with coursework or assignments.

Q: What if I am a credit-free student and have a health or religious issue related to getting a vaccine?

Credit-free students may petition for a medical or religious exemption. Forms are posted on the What Students Need to Know guidance webpage under the “Vaccinations” heading or in the “Covid-19 Info for Students” section in myDCC. For your petition to be considered, submit a completed medical or religious exemption form to CFVaxExemption@sunydutchess.edu. General philosophical or moral objections to the COVID-19 vaccine will not suffice as a basis for a religious exemption.

Students granted a medical or religious exemption will be subjected to certain restrictions and COVID-19 testing responsibilities.

Q: What if I can’t wear a mask?

Per CDC guidelines, a person with a disability who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, as outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.),” should submit a request to the Office of Accommodative Services at accommodativeservices@sunydutchess.edu for consideration of an exemption from mask-wearing based on a medical accommodation, regardless of vaccination status.
