Q: What is the threshold for campus shutdown?
DCC continues to monitor conditions on campus as well as locally, regionally and nationally. Any change in modality of instruction will be made in consultation with Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health and SUNY and will take into consideration levels of campus community transmission of COVID-19, vaccination coverage, local outbreaks and increasing trends.
Q: How will buildings and campus facilities be kept safe?
Health-related questions will be posted at every entrance to encourage individuals to assess their health before entering the building or facility.
Q: What is being done about congestion in hallways and cafeteria?
Dining services have introduced a new ordering app to address congestion and wait times. Access to most offices in the Orcutt Student Services Center will be by appointment only.
Q: It seems that accessibility concerns were not taken into account when closing entrances
Accessible routes were reviewed with the Office of Accommodative Services.
Q: What is the process for student vaccine exemptions? Will faculty/staff be informed
of exemption numbers?
Students pursuing for-credit studies may petition for a religious and medical exemption. The deadline for submitting an exemption request for the spring 2022 semester has passed.
Credit-free students may petition for a medical or religious exemption. Contact CFVaxExemption@sunydutchess.edu to request the appropriate form.
General philosophical or moral objections to the COVID-19 vaccine will not suffice as a basis for a religious exemption.
Students granted a medical or religious exemption will be subjected to certain restrictions and COVID-19 testing responsibilities.
Due to privacy issues, faculty and staff will not be notified of exemption decisions.
Q: What do I do if a student tells me they have COVID-19?
Please tell the student to send an email to COVIDstatus@sunydutchess.edu.
Q: Regarding the wearing of badges. The guidelines encourage faculty, staff and students
to wear a DCC ID badge when on one of our campuses. How visible does the badge need
Badges should be worn in full view – either attached to an item of clothing, hung around the neck, or attached to the outside of a bag or backpack.
Q: What information is available regarding campus numbers?
SUNY is providing statistics on the COVID-19 case count at each SUNY campus. For more, visit the SUNY COVID-19 tracker website.
Q: What if I contract COVID-19?
Faculty and staff should send an email to COVIDstatus@sunydutchess.edu. If you are able, please contact your supervisor to advise them of your absence as well.
Fully vaccinated individuals who are exposed to COVID-19 do not have to quarantine unless they are symptomatic but must be tested. Fully vaccinated individuals who test positive must isolate for five (5) days at home.
Unvaccinated faculty and staff are required to quarantine. If HR does not have a record of you being vaccinated, you will be required to quarantine.
Q: Regarding contact tracing. What happens if I am contact traced for COVID?
If you are contact traced for COVID-19, please send an email to COVIDstatus@sunydutchess.edu. Following CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals who are exposed to COVID-19 do not have to quarantine unless they are symptomatic but must be tested. Fully vaccinated individuals who test positive must isolate for five (5) days at home.
