What Faculty and Staff Need to Know

(Updated Sept. 13, 2021)

Welcome to the fall semester campus guidelines, faculty and staff!

We are looking forward to offering the full DCC experience this fall, with the following health and safety protocols in place. Please note: these guidelines may change if the DCC campus experiences an increase in COVID-19 transmission rates or if SUNY requires additional protocols.

To view health and safety guidelines shared with students, visit this page.

For information related to DCC’s health and safety guidance, see the Fall 2021 COVID-19 Guidance in myDCC.

MANDATORY PAUSE REQUIREMENTS

The New York State requirements for a mandatory pause are no longer in effect. SUNY retains the authority to pause campus activities in cases of increased community transmission.

VACCINATIONS

We highly encourage faculty and staff to get vaccinated.

If you have been vaccinated, please send a copy of your vaccination card showing the details to Constance Barthen, constance.barthen@sunydutchess.edu. You can also stop by Human Resources, where staff will take a copy of your card.

MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

Vaccinated individuals: Fully vaccinated faculty and staff are required to wear a mask at all times in all campus buildings. You may remove your mask within the confines of your individual office space or cubicle, except when interacting with others in that space. All vaccinated faculty and staff who engage with students directly are required to wear masks, including in the classroom. Face shields may only be worn as a secondary layer of protection. Anyone wearing a face shield must also wear a mask. Masks and face shields are available from security officers in building lobbies.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals: Faculty and staff who are not vaccinated or partially vaccinated must wear a mask in all campus buildings and should, where practical, continue to observe social distancing in indoor settings, including instructional spaces (e.g., classrooms, laboratories, studios). All unvaccinated faculty and staff who engage with students directly are required to wear masks. Unvaccinated faculty and staff may only wear face shields as a secondary layer of protection. Anyone wearing a face shield must also wear a mask. Masks and face shields are available from security officers in building lobbies.

All faculty and staff in a departmental or office setting should practice CDC safety precautions, including the wearing of masks.

Special consideration may be given to those who cannot wear a mask. Contact Human Resources for details.

Outdoor masking is not required for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, but social distancing is highly encouraged

YOUR HEALTH

If you are contact traced for COVID-19, please contact HR immediately. Following CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals who are exposed to COVID-19 do not have to quarantine unless they are symptomatic but must be tested. Fully vaccinated individuals who test positive must isolate for 10 days at home.

SELF-HEALTH ASSESSMENTS

Although daily health screenings are no longer required, DCC encourages faculty and staff to perform a daily at-home self-health assessment before coming to campus.

For a list of questions to ask yourself in assessing your health, see the At-Home Health Questionnaire.

If you show symptoms of infectious illness, please stay at home and/or seek medical care.

TESTING

Vaccinated faculty and staff. Fully vaccinated faculty and staff may opt-out from mandatory weekly testing if they submit documentation to Human Resources showing completion of a full vaccination series. Send a copy of your vaccination card showing the details to Constance Barthen. You can also stop by HR, where staff will take a copy of your card.

Fully vaccinated faculty and staff are not required to quarantine if they come into contact with a person who has COVID, but should be tested  3 – 5 days after exposure.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated faculty and staff. Any person who has a physical presence on campus and who has not been fully vaccinated or who has not shown proof of vaccination must be tested weekly.

If conditions change prompting DCC to take additional measures, DCC may require more frequent testing regardless of vaccination status.

Testing takes place in Handel Dining Room on the following days and times.

Mondays 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Wednesdays 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursdays 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Fridays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The testing process is as follows:

1. Faculty, staff and students will swipe their DCC ID to access their Banner account, which will allow for the test date to be registered. The system will then print a test tube label.
2. The test worker will register the test in the Quadrant BioScience system.
3. Faculty, staff and students will then swab their mouth with the test applicator and insert the swab into the test tube.
4. The test worker will then apply the label to the tube.

DCC ID CARDS

All faculty and staff must obtain and wear a DCC ID whenever they are on campus or at any of our College facilities – eg: DCC @ Fishkill, DCC @HVR Airport and DCC @ the Partnership. ID cards are issued in the Campus Security & Safety Office, located in the Orcutt Student Services building, at DCC @ at the Partnership, and at DCC @ Fishkill.

VISITORS

  • The DCC campus is open to the general public.

  • Visitors may come to campus as long they wear masks and meet the DCC health screening assessment.

  • DCC will follow any additional New York State or local health guidelines including those on capacity limits.

TRAVEL

DCC will follow current New York State Department of Health guidance on testing, vaccination and quarantine requirements related to travel.

CAMPUS COMPLIANCE GUIDANCE

Enforcement of the COVID-19 guidance will be handled through Human Resources.

FACILITIES PROCOLS AND PROCEDURES

BUILDINGS

  • We will continue to limit building access by using designated entrances.

CLEANING

  • While New York State mandatory cleaning and disinfection protocols are no longer in effect, DCC will continue to clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, such as common areas and shared workstations, at least once a day. The College will also regularly clean and disinfect other surfaces as necessary depending on the level of traffic, the individuals who use the space, and the general risk of community transmission of COVID-19.

  • DCC will continue to provide hand hygiene stations or supplies within workplaces for individuals to use.

VENTILATION AND AIR FILTRATION

  • DCC has increased outdoor airflow and ventilation rates in indoor settings to support individual comfort and safety, and in accordance with building codes and standards.

  • In indoor areas where air is recirculated, DCC has installed higher rated filters in the filter rack and air handlers of HVAC systems that are able to perform to the level of heating and cooling they provided prior to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
