Adult Students

Are you an adult who’s ready for a new career? Dutchess Community College offers more than 40 associate degree programs and dozens of accelerated certificate options to give you the skills – and increased earning power – necessary in today’s workplace.

We know that returning to school as an adult is a big decision. At Dutchess Community College you’ll have other nontraditional students in your classes and will find our welcoming, inclusive community friendly and engaging. Our adult students enhance the learning environment and bring the wisdom of life experience to our campus.

Many of your friends and neighbors have improved their job opportunities through DCC programs; learn about some of them here, and learn how you can be among them! We offer financial aid counseling, opportunities to earn knowledge-based credits, on-site day care and other services for nontraditional students.

Adults interested in earning an associate degree may be interested in our Business, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, Human Services, Liberal Arts, Paramedic or other programs.

Academic certificates typically take a year to complete and include: Bookkeeping, Paralegal, Computers and Web, Early Childhood, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Chemical Dependency Counseling, Child Care and Phlebotomy.

Our short-term career certificates typically take just weeks or months to complete and many have immediate job openings. Programs include: Certified Production Technician for manufacturing, EMT, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor, Real Estate Sales, Insurance and Security Guard.
