Architectural Technology

If you have an eye for detail, a strong interest in building and construction, and like to use art and design to complement technical know-how, architecture technology is the field for you.

Architecture affects our lives in everything we do, from living and working environments to how we interact with each other and the environment. And architecture technologists are involved every step along the way.

From home construction to office building design, and from interpreting blueprints to navigating building codes, architecture technologists bring ideas and concepts to life. DCC’s Architectural Technology degree program teaches students how to design buildings that are not only functional and environmentally friendly but also economical and sustainable.

You’ll acquire a broad range of skills and knowledge, including data—architectural design, graphic communication, and construction technology that will create a strong foundation from which to pursue career opportunities in the design and construction industry, or transfer to a four- or five-year college or university program. Many students do both.

DCC graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in the building, design and construction industry. Starting salaries can range from $30,000 to $40,000.

DCC graduates have found rewarding career at local companies, including:
  • Mauri Associates
  • Liscum McCormack VanVoorhis Architects
  • Swartz Architecture
  • Whalen Architecture
  • Mazzarelli Architecture
  • Ciro Interrante Architect
  • Leody Architecture
