Student Academic Success Center

The Academic Services and Testing Office is offering remote Academic Services which include: Drop-in Tutoring and Tutoring By Appointment with our professional tutoring staff, and Appointment-Based Tutoring with peer tutors.  Learning Assistance appointments with a professional staff member are also being offered remotely.

The physical tutoring centers at the Poughkeepsie and Dutchess South campuses are closed during this time.

Remote tutoring will take place using the Zoom platform. It is recommended that students using remote tutoring services download the Zoom app. The tutoring platform GoBoard may also be utilized as determined by the tutor.

Zoom can be accessed on a laptop, desktop, or mobile device. This works best if there is a camera and microphone on the device. However, if camera or microphone is not available there is a chat feature that can be used. Laptops and desktops are recommended for best remote tutoring experiences.

Remote Tutoring Services with Professional Tutoring Staff

Drop-in Tutoring – Students can refer to the chart below and simply click on the Zoom link of the Professional Tutoring Staff member for the subject in which assistance is needed at the desired time the staff member is available.

Tutoring By Appointment – Students can refer to the chart below for the subject in which assistance is needed. If a Professional Tutoring Staff member has an appointment slot available during the desired time, students should follow the Steps to Request a Remote Tutoring Appointment.

Steps to Request a Remote Tutoring Appointment:

1. Students should email DCCTutoringProgram@sunydutchess.edu from their DCC email to request a tutoring appointment. Include the following information:

  • Student First and Last Name

  • Student ID (A#)

  • Cell Number

  • Course(s) for which assistance is being requested

  • Open time slots for each day of the week during which the student is available for tutoring.  Note: Students should list as many open time slots as possible to allow for the best opportunity for our staff to match the request for tutoring.

2. Students should monitor their DCC email for an email from TutorTrac to receive details about the remote tutoring appointment including the assigned tutor, appointment day and time, etc.

3. Prior to the appointment, students should monitor their email for a second related email with Zoom meeting log in instructions, including the Zoom meeting ID and password.

4. Students should note this Zoom meeting ID and password because it will be used for each weekly, recurring remote tutoring appointment with this assigned tutor.
