CLEP Exams

Notice: The Testing Center at the Poughkeepsie campus is under a phased reopening based on the guidance of SUNY, New York State, Dutchess County, and Dutchess Community College administration. Facemasks will be required when coming on campus. Appointments are required. Due to social distancing, ONLY the student will be allowed into the Testing Center at the appointment time. Currently, there is no availability for testing at Dutchess @ Fishkill.

CLEP exams are now available on a limited basis as the Testing Center transitions to a phased reopening. Please email HighStakesTesting@sunydutchess.edu for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Appointments for CLEP Exams will be scheduled on Thursdays 1:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This schedule is subject to change without notice based on demand, staffing, and health-related guidance by New York State, SUNY, and Dutchess County.

Dutchess Community College proctors CLEP exams for students who wish to earn college credits based on previous learning experience. Taking CLEP exams offers the opportunity for students to earn college credits by displaying proficiency in certain content areas. CLEP scores and credits vary upon exam and institution, so students should contact their college prior to signing up for the exam to ensure the credits will be granted.


1. Students will go to clep.collegeboard.org to purchase their exam (and have an opportunity to purchase review materials.

2. Students are also required to pay a $35 test proctoring fee which can be done by clicking on the “Pay Test Proctoring Fee” button to the right. Please bring proof of payment to the Testing Center on the date of testing.


Students will bring their exam ticket as well as a photo ID to the Testing Center. Tests are available by appointment only and are scheduled by emailing HighStakesTesting@sunydutchess.edu.
