DCC Foundation Golf Tournament a Huge Success

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The 19th Annual Dutchess Community College Foundation Golf Tournament in memory of Jack Orcutt raised $54,000 to help student scholarships and other college needs.

Jack Orcutt was DCC’s first director of student activities and a founding member of the faculty.

The tournament was held May 19 at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club in Poughkeepsie, and although the day was somewhat chilly, 115 golfers registered for the scramble format tourney and dinner.

The first-place team, with a round of 61, was Roger Smith, Jason Smith, John Rickert, and Craig Busby. The second-place team of Ed Lamando, Mike Barker, Bob O’Shea, and Dave Horton, all of Thomas Gleason Inc., scored a 63, and moved into second place after a tie-breaker. The third-place team, also with a score of 63, was the Sherman’s Furniture team of Peter Kelderhouse Sr., Peter Kelderhouse Jr., Mike Taylor, and Jeremy Eisenberg.

The longest-drive competition was won by Bob O’Shea in the men’s category and Jean Needy in the women’s. The closest-to-the-pin competition on Hole 8 was won by Don Beers in the men’s category and Brenda Meyers in the women’s.

In addition to the 18 holes of golf, the event featured a barbecue lunch, cocktails, soft drinks, an awards dinner, prizes, sponsor recognition, and a raffle drawing immediately following the tournament.

Llelanie Orcutt and Marshall and Sterling were Ace Sponsors, Chazen Companies was the Giveaway Sponsor, TD Banknorth was a Double Eagle Sponsor, and BTM, Clough Harbor, Meyer Contracting Corporation, and M&T Bank were all Eagle Sponsors.

Founded in 1957, Dutchess Community College is a two-year community college celebrating its 50th anniversary of excellence and service to the residents of Dutchess County.
