Director's Welcome

Welcome to the Dutchess Community College Francis U. and Mary F. Ritz Library, your academic resource center! The Library is a vital educational resource center dedicated to providing high-quality, cost-effective service to our diverse college community, and support for the instructional and research needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Our collection consists of more than 80,000 books and over 336 magazine, journal, and newspaper subscriptions. We also offer a growing array of electronic resources, many of which offer the full text of articles. Our Library Liaison program, which connects librarians with faculty in each academic department, ensures that our collection reflects the information needs of students in each of our academic programs.

Our online catalog enables you to rapidly locate books and listings of course reserves. IMPRES, the Telecommunications and Instructional Media Department's online catalog, is also available for searching at the Library. Videos, videodiscs, cassettes, films, and other media are available for viewing in the Center for Business and Industry (CBI), room 130.

The library staff encourages commitment to lifelong learning and self-reliance by teaching research strategies and the effective use of library resources. Our librarians field questions posed on a wide range of topics, and will be happy to assist you in locating items that meet your information needs.
