Honors sections of English 101 (scheduled in the fall semester) and English 102 (scheduled in the spring) offer specialized and challenging writing experiences to qualified students. In honors English 101, students research, plan, and write a paper that they may enter in the Beacon competition, a conference for students in two-year colleges. In English 102, they read and analyze the works of such writers as Anton Chekhov, James Joyce, and Elizabeth Bishop.
Students wishing to enroll in honors sections should see Dr. Werner Steger, Honors Coordinator, in the History, Government, and Economics Department (431-8522), or the course instructor. Fall English 101 faculty should encourage academically able students to take honors English 102 in the spring.
