This 5-day songwriting immersion is designed to give students a foundation in writing song lyrics for different musical genres, including pop-rock, folk, country, punk, and hip-hop. During the week, students will learn how to write song lyrics in the style of each genre, and these songs will be workshopped in both peer and individual settings. Students will have the option to set their lyrics to music and/or beat-making technology. The program will culminate in a “slam poetry”-like performance on Friday 6/30 at 1:30pm, in which students will recite two of their favorite songs for their friends and family. Musicians and writers of all experience levels are welcome!
