Student Line-up: 3:00 p.m.
Ceremony Begins: 4:00 p.m.
Students: please plan to arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. The ceremony begins promptly at 4:00 p.m. Plan your travel time accordingly to accommodate traffic, parking, etc. Dutchess Community College staff will be on hand to assist you. When you arrive at the Civic Center, please proceed to the line-up location in the McCann Ice Arena
PROCESSION: Graduates will be directed to their seats by the student marshals. Graduates should fill the seats row by row leaving no empty seats between them. Please remain standing until you are asked to take your seat.
CONFERRAL OF DEGREES: You will be asked to stand, one row at a time, exit to your right, and ascend the stairway to the right of stage. (The diploma itself is not given out at graduation; it will be mailed to your home.)
Hand the Line-of-March Card to the announcer. After your name is announced, proceed across the stage to shake hands with Dr. Edington and receive your diploma jacket.
You will then continue across the stage, descend the stairs (opposite the stairs you came up) and return to your original seat. Staying for the entire ceremony is required.
AFTER THE CEREMONY:
RECESSIONAL: At the end of the ceremony, graduates will be directed to stand and exit the graduation ceremony row by row.
Important Things to Remember:
Duration of Ceremony: Approximately 2 - 2 ½ hours
Number of Guests: Each graduate is given 4 guest tickets
Handicapped Parking available in the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel garage with a parking pass. Please contact Student Activities, Dutchess Hall, Room 201 for your pass.
Personal Belongings: There is no place to leave personal belongings during the ceremony. Please leave them with a family member. NO STROLLERS PERMITTED.
