Each semester, the Office of Academic Services and Testing presents a two-part book club. The first part consists of a Book Club Launch where participating students receive a free copy of the novel that will be read that semester. The second part takes place three to four weeks later where students participate in the Book Club Discussion . The book club is a fabulous opportunity to connect with other DCC students and staff members. This semester's book is What Now? by Anne Patchett. Recent books have included: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros.
Real People, Real World
Each semester, the Office of Academic Services and Testing presents a series of informative programs called “Real People/Real World.” This program focuses on a different professional field, such as: business, healthcare, communications, nursing, etc. Students have the opportunity to interact with professionals who are in various stages of their education and career development. Based on their career choice, former DCC students and local professionals provide information on additional education needed, job opportunities and work environments. This informative program is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their future career.
