Gregory Messier, a graduate of Dutchess Community College where he studied under Professor Robert Benney, has spent his life interested in wildlife and its habitat. This interest in wildlife began at a young age while accompanying his father on fishing and hunting trips. With this new enthusiasm, he increased his knowledge of wildlife, something that would be a great help later in his painting. This genuine interest has resulted in superb paintings, and he paints animal and avian creatures with appreciation and dedication to his work.
After recently holding a one man art show at a gallery in New York City, Messier was commissioned to paint for Outdoor Life and Field and Stream magazines, along with numerous commissions from sportsmen and collectors in Europe. His paintings have won many awards and have been commissioned by sporting magazines, corporate, and private collections, including that of former president Ronald Reagan. It is Messier’s desire to illustrate a little of the happiness and excitement that the animal kingdom has given him through his paintings. His reputation is international as well as national: Prince Bernhardt of Denmark owns one of his original paintings.
