Advisement

Students may be assigned to coaches who will work with them until graduation. We encourage students to meet with their coach a minimum of three times in a semester. During your session with your coach please come prepared to discuss your progression in coursework, plans for the following semester, and advise coaches if you are feeling distracted or are experiencing difficulties with your classes.

Degree Works – this is an online tool that students can utilize to see their course progression. Degree Works provides a degree audit for students and can be accessed in myDCC.

Syllabus – Your syllabus is your contract with faculty. The ACT Center encourages students to keep their syllabi for all courses and review throughout the semester mindful of important assignments and deadline.

Academic Catalog – The academic catalog is available online and has important information regarding grading, curriculum, enrollment and registration.

Project Success – Project Success is an interactive workshop that the ACT Center offers each semester for students within their first academic year. During this workshop students will reflect on their goals while at DCC and consider an action plan for achieving them. We encourage all first-year students to attend this workshop. This workshop has been successful for students who completed it; in fact, 95% of those students who completed the course in the fall returned for the spring 2016 semester.
