Bridges to Excellence Coordinator

Dutchess Community College invites applications for the position of Bridges to Excellence Coordinator in the Office of Academic Services and Testing. Reporting to an Assistant Director of the Department, the primary responsibilities of this position include: serving as an academic resource and ombudsperson to support program students; fostering relationships with high school personnel to support the transition from high school to college; recruiting and selecting students for the program; coordinating program activities and requirements with Marist College to provide a seamless transfer experience; working with community agencies to provide job opportunities, financial support and other resources for students; conducting assessment of student retention and graduation rates; making recommendations to increase student persistence; and, cultivating a culture of student success as part of the team in Academic Services and Testing.

Bridges to Excellence is a program that provides selected developmental education students guaranteed acceptance into Marist College if program requirements are fulfilled.

Dutchess Community College seeks candidates with at least two years professional experience working with under-prepared students in high school or college settings. Candidates should have an appreciation of the needs of community college students, including non-traditional students, and have the ability to work collaboratively to ensure student success and retention. Candidates should possess excellent research and analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of the technology and tools used in academic assessment and experience in presenting workshops or teaching. A Bachelor's Degree in education, the social sciences or a related field is required; a master's degree in higher education or a related field is strongly preferred.

This is a part-time, grant-funded position (15 hours per week during the academic year).
