Early Childhood Educator for the 
June Roush-Pierson Laboratory Nursery School

The Department of Behavioral Science and the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a full-time Early Childhood Educator position in the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program. This is a position as a preschool teacher working with children ages 3-5 in the June Roush-Pierson Laboratory Nursery School. This position also includes responsibilities with DCC college students in the Early Childhood or Elementary Education Programs in the Laboratory School. This opening has an expected start date in August of 2015.

Minimum qualifications: Required—bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or comparable field with a master’s degree preferred. The candidate is required to have a minimum of 5 years experience as a teacher in a preschool setting with a minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience in a preschool setting and experience working as a field supervisor at the college level.

As an Early Childhood Educator the preferred candidate will be responsible for modeling/demonstrating curriculum, teaching and limit setting techniques that are consistent with the program’s philosophy and NAEYC’s developmentally appropriate practice during the Nursery School session; providing guidance and support to DCC students during pre- and post-sessions and individual conferences; scheduling participant learning experiences, observations, etc.; maintaining open lines of communication with Field Supervisors of practicum participants; conducting evaluation conferences with and written evaluations for practicum participants as required; co-teaching weekly group planning seminar and environmental setup focused fieldwork hours in the Lab Nursery; planning for and preparation of the physical environment and activities for daily nursery school programming; keeping children’s observation/assessment records and conducting conferences with parents; responsible for conducting one group parent meeting per semester; assuming responsibility for miscellaneous administrative and program responsibilities.

Tenure Track Position for Assistant Professor and Chairperson of Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program

The Department of Behavioral Science at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a Full-Time Faculty/Chairperson position in the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program. This opening is a tenure track position with an expected start date in August of 2015.

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in Early Childhood; direct teaching experience in child care, nursery school and/or early childhood (birth – second grade); conceptual and direct experience with Developmentally Appropriate Practice as described by NAEYC and college teaching experience preferably at the community college level.

Preference will be given to those with experience in working with the requirements of a Laboratory School and demonstrated leadership and experience supervising staff. Preferred candidates should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of assessment in course and program development and knowledge of e-folio assessment. Candidates should have experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction is required.  

As the Program Chair, the preferred candidate will be responsible for interviewing and assigning adjunct instructors and field supervisors as needed; Program Staff evaluations/reviews; coordination with Lab Nursery Staff to assure alignment of academic and field experiences; oversight of the ECH (A.A.S. in Early Childhood), ECC (Certificate in Early Childhood) Programs, assuring their relevance to graduates and the employers in the community; oversight of the EED (A.S., Jointly Registered Program with SUNY New Paltz) and the EET (A.S., B-2/1-6 Transfer to all SUNY Colleges) Programs, assuring their compliance with the articulation agreements; as well as budget management for the Program and the Laboratory Nursery.

Tenure Track Position in Accounting

The Department of Business at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Accounting. This opening is a tenure track position with an expected start date in August of 2015.

Minimum qualifications include an MBA, or earned master’s degree in accounting or a closely related field, some college level teaching experience, and relevant work experience in the field of accounting. 

Preference will be given to candidates with a C.P.A. designation, as well as to candidates with extensive experience using QuickBooks, Sage-Peachtree, and/or similar accounting software packages on a regular basis. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with successful experience teaching community college students, and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Lastly, preference will be given to candidates who can teach a range of courses required in our ACC degree program.  Candidates should have experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations, and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Tenure Track Position in Criminal Justice

The Department of Behavioral Sciences at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in criminal justice with an expected start date in August of 2015. 

Minimum qualifications include an earned master’s degree in criminal justice, or an appropriate sub-discipline of criminal justice, and other relevant, prior professional experience. 

The ability to teach in the following areas is necessary: issues and trends in terrorism intervention, field-based criminal investigations, computer-based crime, digital forensics, standard criminal justice offerings, and other general education areas served by the department. The successful candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate students and be involved in program area, college, and community service. In addition, participation in professional organizations related to criminal justice is desired. We seek candidates who have a professional background in criminal justice or a closely related field, with a concentration in both local law enforcement and federal investigation. Some evening and/or off campus teaching may be required.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with or teaching community college students and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Preferred candidates should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of assessment in course and program development. Tenure Track Position in Nursing

The Department of Nursing at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a faculty position in nursing. This opening is a tenure track position with an expected start date in August of 2015.

Minimum qualifications include an earned master’s degree (terminal degree preferred) in nursing or nursing education, a license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York state, and current medical - surgical experience.

The position involves teaching a variety of nursing courses, which will include both classroom and clinical instruction in an integrated nursing curriculum. Teaching assignments may include medical-surgical and psychiatric topics. Scheduling may involve evening assignments and clinical courses may not be limited to the immediate Poughkeepsie area. Knowledge of curriculum development, test construction, course and program assessment and accreditation, prior teaching experience, and possession of strong clinical skills are necessary to fulfill this position.
